Homemade Chicken Baby Food
Every doctor is different and will say it’s okay to start your babies on poultry as early as 4 months. Our doctor gave us the thumbs up at 6 months. We get creative with our homemade baby food. I usually prep a few different veggies, a potato, a fruit, and a meat on Sunday’s so that we can combine different things each day giving us many options. You can make your chicken by poaching it in boiling water, baking it, or using a crock-pot recipe. Baking helps retain the most nutrients and we toss the cooked chicken with the juices into the Nutribullet and blend it all together. Thanks to my sister in law Carrie who suggested saving the juice.

Ingredients
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and lightly coat chicken with olive oil is optional depending on the age of your baby
  2. Cover a baking sheet with a large piece of foil to completely wrap the chicken
  3. Place baking sheet in the oven and bake until the juices run clear – baking times will vary depending on the size of the chicken portions you are cooking. A general rule is that you should cook meat for 20 minutes per pound. Chicken breasts may bake in 20-25 minutes
  4. Once completely cooked, you can cut into pieces or toss in your food processor to blend
  5. Store the chicken in a Tupperware in the fridge until ready to use
  6. I usually make a meal combining chicken or turkey, a veggie such as broccoli/kale/eggplant, a starch such as sweet potato, and a little fruit such as banana or applesauce. Some even add in the baby rice cereal. Get creative!
