Salted Caramel Bites

If you like caramel and you like chocolate, you will love this recipe. It reminds me of the hard chocolate covered toffee squares from See’s Candies. My mother in law found this and thought we should take a stab at it. Glad I did. Super yummy and quite easy. Perfect for parties!
Ingredients:
1.5 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/3 cup dark brown sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
1/3 cup toasted macadamia nuts, coarse...

Fleur de Sel Salted Dulce De Leche Caramel Cheesecake Bars

I had two goals in mind when I found this recipe online. #1, my dear friend Twain brought me a jar of Sel Gris caramel sauce from Nashville and I wanted to do something fun with it. #2, it was my future sister in laws birthday and I wanted to make her something extra special. This dessert is by far one of the best things I have tasted. The cheese, caramel, and fleur de sel will make you speechless.

Strawberry Paletas Popsicles

There is nothing better on a hot summer day than cool and refreshing paletas (popsicles)! Growing up in Fontana we would swarm to the guys pushing the boxed refrigerators on wheels at the softball park. Those strawberry paletas were always a favorite of mine. Recently I found a recipe for popsicles made with watermelon puree, kiwi, and strawberry...

Chocolate Crack or Madie’s Graham Snacks

My husband came home from work raving about this dessert he tried that a co-worker made. Lynette M. emailed me the recipe and I made this over the weekend to share with my dad who loves chocolate. The name suits the dessert. It is dangerously addicting! We all couldn’t keep our hands off it. We had to throw them back in the freezer so we wouldn’t keep eating them. YUM, YUM, YUM...

Coconut Cream Pie

A couple weeks ago I stumbled upon the cutest antique store in Palm Desert. I found an old vintage picnic basket sort of like Little Red Riding hood that you can carry around a pie in. This gave me the idea to bake a pie. It turned out delicious for my first attempt. I made on 9-inch and a mini one in a small Pyrex bowl for my Mother in Law. Saving the second pie pastry for a banana cream pie!

World’s Best Bread Pudding

One day our neighbor Ruby Tecson brought over a plate of this bread pudding. If anyone knows my husband he is the pickiest person in the world. Let’s just say he devoured this thing. He asked if I would beg for the recipe. I pretty much stalked her for it. Thank you so much Ruby for sharing your recipe with me...

Hadley’s World Famous Date Shake

I’ve been going to Hadley’s Fruit Orchard farm since I was a little girl. My parents would take me to Palm Springs to get on the aerial tram and we would visit Hadley’s for date shakes and of course the Cabazon outlets years later and Morongo Casino & Hotel next door as well. Since I cover the desert for work, I try to stop at Hadley’s a few times a year to pick up date paste...

Flan

If you’re unfamiliar with flan, think of it as a tasty variation on custard. One warning, though – it’s very filling. A small slice of flan goes a long way! We made pork carnitas tacos, rice, beans, and served this flan as the dessert. Everyone loved it!
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 1 t...
