Dulce de Leche Caramel Sauce

Dulce de Leche translation meaning “candy of milk” or “milk candy.” This was fabulous inside and on top of my homemade apple pie. I’m looking forward to incorporating it into many other dishes.

One pot of hot water enough to cover the can for 2 full hours

Lemon Breakfast Cake

This recipe is very similar to a sponge cake except it doesn’t get the airy light fluff that sponge cake does. It is slightly thicker like cake. You can add poppy seeds and it would taste just like lemon poppy seed muffins. To make this more light and fluffy, I believe I will need to lower the oven to 325 and possibly add in baking powder. My next goal is to master a sponge cake or angel food cake.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Fudge

My Grandma had this recipe in her recipe box more than 5 times so I knew it would be good. The best part is that it is super easy and it does taste just like a Reese’s Peanut Butter cup. These would be perfect to have out for the holidays. I took cold slices of it to the neighbors last night so they had a surprise dessert after dinner. It is basically peanut butter chocolate fudge...

Grandma’s 3 Layer Swiss Chocolate Cake

My Grandma Bustle passed away earlier in the year and I was blessed with her recipe boxes. In going through them I found 6 index cards with the same exact recipe. I knew this one had to be good. There are three ways you can bake this cake. You can go with option #1, only bake a Swiss Chocolate Cake using Duncan Hines cake mix in 3 layers. It is really hard to find on the west coast...

Amaretto No-Fuss Tiramisu

When buying lady fingers for another tiramisu recipe I attempted, there was a recipe on the package of lady fingers purchased at Albertson’s. A brand called Lady Fingers Simply Elegant Desserts. When I went to their website I couldn’t find the recipe. Not sure if they only have it available on the packages. I made this for a camping trip 4 days in advance and put it in the freezer...

Italian Peach Pie Crostata

A crostata is an Italian free-form open fruit tart – shape it any way you like. My mother in law found this recipe. I am so happy with the outcome and everyone who tried it enjoyed it. You can serve it right out of the oven with your favorite vanilla ice cream.
This recipe is based on one from Frank Stitt’s Southern Table, Recipes and Gracious Traditions from Highland’s Bar and Grill (Artisan, 200...

Tiramisu

My dear friend Elaine loves Tiramisu. I had never made it before so when she sent me this recipe I saved it on my computer until I had time to make this for her. What I like most about this tiramisu compared to most that you have in restaurants is that it wasn’t soggy. It was a perfect combination of cream, lady fingers, and Kahlua.
YIELD: Approx. 12 Servings
Ingredients:

* 6 egg yolks – throw away egg ...

Coconut Sour Cream Layer Cake

My Grandma Bustle would make this cake for special occasions before she passed away. My Aunt Peggy says it is her favorite cake which inspired me to make it the very first time. Best decision ever! This cake is delightful. The key is to make it 3 days prior and keep it stored in an airtight container. This brings all the flavors together and makes each slice a piece of perfection...
